Welcome
Our job
is to save you money
Hello and welcome to the
November Newsletter.
For back issues please click
here.
Our July 2003 newsletter covered the use of Mobile phones
from overseas. In this issue we show you how
to make the most of your UK Mobile phone to make
International calls:
Over 100 rate reductions...
- Cheap calls
from your Mobile phone...
- Why WAM ?...
- Roaming
extension latest...
Please read on for
details...
More rate reductions, in fact, 105 more...!
Once
again, I am
pleased to report a number of rate reductions, effective
15 November 2003. Reductions cover 105 destinations
from Antarctica to Zimbabwe.
Regrettably, we have had a small number of increases
too, e.g Ethiopia, Kenya and Malta Mobile. All customers benefit from
the new rates immediately. All you have to do is to keep
topping up your account and using it normally.
I have marked the
reduced rates as "new", both here on the
right and on the website,
so please check to see if your calling destination
has reduced or not, and tell your family and friends.
Cheap calls from your Mobile phone...
Our research indicates
that people do not always understand how much they can
save on both International and UK calls by dialling direct
from Mobile phones using their easy-dial Calling
Account. Here's how:
(i) Contract
mobile phones. The chances are you will have "free
call minutes" allowance included in your monthly rental
payments. If you do, simply use your 0208 access number (0208
585 2866) to access your account, and then dial
your International destination number, without pressing
send! For example, in this way, you can call
Australia for 1.5p, France,
Spain, Italy, Germany, USA and Russia Moscow for 1.9p,
etc. This is because, the 0208 call will be free to you as
it will count towards your free call minutes allowance,
and the International call will go through your account
with easy-dial, at an incredibly cheap rate. Beyond
your free minutes allowance, please be careful because
your normal national call rate will be applied by your
Network in addition to our call rate.
(ii)
Beyond your "free call minutes allowance".
It may still be cheaper to use easy-dial than using your Mobile
for calling overseas. For example, after 30 minutes
of surfing and 20 minutes of queuing on the phone,
we found out that T-Mobile (www.t-mobile.com)
charge 70p per minute for a call to France, Germany, Italy
and Spain, and if you pay £30 per year extra, this drops
to 20p per minute. Most Mobile operators charge 15p per
minute for UK daytime national calls.
Example: You could call Spain for 15p plus 1.9p to
us, totalling 16.9p, from your Mobile.
This would save you 3.1p per
minute AND £30. If you did not pay the
£30, the saving would be over 53p per minute! If you
are calling Thailand......well, we will let you work that
one out!
(iii) Orange Contract Mobiles.
If you have an Orange phone on a pay-monthly contract, not
only can you make the savings outlined in (i) and (ii)
above, but you can save even more because
Orange do not currently charge for 0800 calls. Hence
you can access your easy-dial Calling Account with the
0800 number, and simply pay our 0800 rate for all your
calls. e.g. Australia, Hong
Kong and Singapore for 3.5p, most of Europe, USA, Russia
Moscow for 3.9p from your Orange contract Mobile, anytime!
You can also make your UK landline calls, for just 3.9p
per minute. Most Mobile operators charge around 15p
for a UK call! It's over 3 minutes for the price of
one !!
Finally, please remember that if you
have a "free calls" package with your landline provider,
you can use the 0208 access number and save even more on
your International calls.
Why WAM ?...
Quite simply
because WAM will give you:
Roaming Extension latest...!
Unfortunately
our European roaming extension service is not back on-line
yet. We are hoping to resume it before the end of
the year.
Where customers have a regular need
to call FROM overseas, we can either set up a separate
International Roaming Account
or a call-back account.
If you are calling family from Europe, as a temporary
measure, we recommend that you ask them to call you from
the UK using your account details. We can always change
your PIN for you later, to increase security.
We are planning a special Newsletter
later this month, to cover the benefits of
call-back accounts.
We hope you have found this
newsletter useful. If you have any comments about the
newsletter, or any of our products and
services, please email them to me. Click
here to do this.

the yellow "tell a friend envelope" below.
